I Do Not Know My Neighbours

I do not know my neighbours and they do not know me And they are not people I often do see But they have their loud parties on saturday night And in the small hours of sunday I hear them quarrel and fight. One must suppose that's what dysfunctional friendships are about They have their big parties sing, laugh, quarrel and shout And play their loud music till sunday morning after four Without sparing one thought for those trying to sleep next door On sunday hung over from the effects of the beer Not even a sound from their home does one hear In headaches and nausea in over-indulgence they pay Youth must have it's fling some have been known to say. Till the small hours of sunday their partying does keep me awake And no course of action about it I do take Of their drunken aggression I am all too aware And the loud noise that they make I feel obliged for to bear. Know them by sight only and them don't often see And they seem quite happy for to ignore me On saturday till the small hours of sunday for eight hours or more They play their loud music the young people next door.
