I Miss The Old Friends

Though little strange in that most migrants would say I often do think of old friends far away More than twenty years since I've seen them and time ticking on And my prime years of life to the ways of time gone. The roads of life I have travelled up and down Since I left the countryside near Millstreet Town So many I knew at home now living elsewhere I miss the old Town and the friends I had there. I miss the old Town in view of Clara Hill And I miss the old groves and the babbling rill That flow through the old fields by many a ditch and hedgerow I long for the life that I once used to know. I miss the old friends from the Seasons ago And I miss the old fields where Finnow waters flow On to the Blackwater en route to the sea The past I have left but the past won't leave me.
