In Castlemaine

In Castlemaine an old Town in Victoria it is a warm day for the time of year The sparrows chirp all day long in the Town gardens and when the mood takes him the magpie's voice one hear And deciduous trees in Autumn lose their beauty as their Summer leaves of green turn brown and start to fall There is a certain beauty about Autumn though Spring is still my favourite Season of all. I spoke to one she was in her mid sixties she said this place could do with lots of rain The fairways brown and bone dry on the golf course it has never been so dry in Castlemaine The Town water reservoir at ten per cent now and for Castlemaine that is an all time low And the paddocks for miles around brown, bare and dusty in drought conditions nothing seems to grow. In Castlemaine the changes have been happening in what was a colonial gold mining town Is now a home to sculptors and to artists who bring to the place a new kind of renown It has always been known for it's friendly people so many there smile and bid you a good day It is a place well worthy of a visit and a great place for to spend a holiday. In Castlemaine the autumn leaves are falling and the weather warm for the time of year And rain has never been more badly needed but rain to Castlemaine seems nowhere near The sparrows chirping in the bare town gardens and wattle birds call on the acacia trees And it's more like Summer than the first day of April and there is warmth in the Autumn breeze.
