Locals

They marry a local and settle down And raise their children in their Countrytown Their sedentary lives they love and do embrace And in truth I envy them their sense of place. They never wish to travel to anywhere Or sample life in the big World out there From their Hometown they never venture far And they socialize in their favourite local bar. Parochial in their ways it even seem Their favourite Football Club their local team They always go to watch the Locals play And talk of the game in the pub the next day. And credit them since credit they are due To their Hometown they remain ever true And in the homeplace they will grow old and gray They never yearn for places far away.
