No Nothing Last Forever

No nothing last forever that's what old Linda say And on looking back the decades she can recall the day When she and Joe as lovers they walked out hand in hand But he is far from her today maybe in another Land. The only man she ever loved though with her he did not stay The wanderlust was in his heart for places far away And he sailed off to another shore when he had turned nineteen And the hills around the old Hometown to Linda far more green The only man she ever loved to her did not return Yet still the undying flame of love in her heart for him burn She married Bill her second choice and to her he remained true Until his death ten years ago in December ninety two. Their only off spring and his wife live nearby with their only offspring their son A young man almost in his prime he has turned twenty one And Linda in her seventy fifth year the memories still retain Of the only man she ever loved one she won't see again. On her once pretty face are the wrinkles now of physical decay And to father time we all must bow the years have left her gray And Joe the only man she loved where might he be today In a cemetery in some foreign town perhaps his bones now lay
