Old Vasco from Croatia he swears that God is dead And that by the theologians the masses are misled And for his soul's salvation he won't ask you to pray All religion is humbug who needs it anyway? . the almighty dollar is his God the only God he know With plenty money you have friends and your buddy numbers grow And though he's not a weathy man you could not call him poor A working man of middle class and financially secure. He left his Homeland Croatia when he was near his prime When he was almost twenty years back in Tito's time Before hatred boiled over and the spiteful war began He's not sorry to have missed that he says 'me a lucky man'. His hair line is receding and his hair is silver gray And he will be sixty two years on the fourth of May And he's happy in Australia and I've often heard him say Me always loved this Country even from the first day. Vasco doesn't believe in God's existence and he cannot understand The bloodshed and needless loss of life back there in his Homeland He blame it all on religion man's God cannot be great To allow for such suffering, such anger and such hate. In God or in an afterlife old Vasco does not believe Some people he will tell you are not hard to deceive And the almighty dollar is the only God he know With plenty money you have friends and your buddy numbers grow.
