In the wooded hills of South Gippsland a place that lives up to it's name Mt beauty alone for it's beauty is surely entitled to fame Where the beautiful song of the shrike thrush it floats in the cool mountain breeze And the nectar eating honeyeaters, lories and rosellas are chirping on the blossoming trees. The road to Mt Beauty a dirt road to the park a stiff climb all of the way It has been a few years since I've been there but in fancy I am there today 'Tis surely an Earthly Utopia such places becoming quite rare Mt Beauty renowned for it's beauty with the finest I've seen does compare. Mt Beauty nowhere near to where I now live a four to five hours journey by car With the second hand model I now drive the road to there seems that bit far But I return to there in my flights of fancy I stand in the clearing in the wooded park And above the quiet sunlit valley I can hear the carolling lark. He keeps singing whilst he's ascending a musical speck in the sky To sing at the gate of the angels above Mt Beauty valley he fly It has been awhile since I have been there but memories of it with me does remain And often in my flights of fancy I visit Mt Beauty again.
