The Noble Unsung Hero

He has seen many Seasons has slept in a gipsy's camp And he has lived in the barren lands yet his face not on a postage stamp He has been in many Countries yet he goes his own quiet way And on any given subject he does not have much to say. He has seen the mighty Pyramids and the Seven hills of Rome And he knows of life in the world out there far from where he calls home Yet you will not hear him talking of landscapes brown or green And you will not hear him boasting of the things he has done and seen. He raised his young son and young daughter on his own when his wife their mother died Yet he does not look back on his life achievements with any sort of pride The years are creeping up on him yet at heart he remains young The noble unsung hero his praises are unsung. He has been referred to by some as a child of the lesser gods And he has survived the leans years and he has overcome the odds Yet he never talks about himself and he keeps a low profile An unsung quiet achiever free of conceit or guile. The noble unsung hero of himself he never boast To him others don't raise their glasses and to him drink a toast His face not on a postage stamp he never speaks too loud And he is just the silent fellow in the noisy crowd.
