F Francis Duggan

He was born and raised in Glasgow from here far away The town's last stonemason was buried today He lived to a good age he was ninety three His stone work will outlive him for more than a century The town's last stonemason enjoyed his every beer At the local he always enjoyed the barroom cheer He has great grandchildren though he never had a long term partner or wife And he had many love affairs in his long life He left Glasgow in his early twenties in the mid nineteen forties forever more Never again to return to his homeland shore Though his strong distinctive accent with him did remain A piece of Scotland that until death he did retain He was the last link to a trade of the past Of the town's stonemasons he was the last He died in his sleep from life for him a painless release The long lived old migrant he now is at peace.
