As poetry my rhymes are not quite good enough
To the literary purists a bit slipshod and rough
But I never do say that I am a poet
Or one in any way worthy of any literary note
I penned my first rhymes when in my physical prime
And this is going back many Seasons in time
It was my love of rhyme made a rhymer of me
When I was twenty seven in nineteen seventy three
Where I grew to love Nature when I was a boy
Reading rhymes in old school books I used to enjoy
And if I said I would quit rhyming this would be a lie
Since I hope to be doing it on the day I do die
Time is showing on me of years twelve with three score
And I write rhymes for enjoyment and little else more.
