You do not need to tell me of how marvelous you are Or of the size of your house or swimming pool or car Or of your marvelous children or your beautiful wife Though good on you for leading a materially successful life Self promotion nowadays is quite the in thing And you are just one of many that their own praises like to sing But self praise is no praise as the wise one does say And i happen for to be one who see it in this way In a Human World where billions of people for material success do compete Those seen to be losers live on poverty street But in life for others to win big they had to lose Though the sort of life they live is not the sort of life they did choose Since i am a fellow quite hard to impress Why bother to tell me of your latest success For those doing it tough you do not feel any sympathy Yet sad to think many like you who lack in empathy Are materially successful and seen by many as great Suppose the people we aspire to be like we do celebrate On the ladder of material success you are one who has climbed far Though you do not need to tell me of how marvelous you are.
