This Child Within The Man...{ When Crossroads Connect }

A Summers ride to somewhere, 'neath skies twilight cast, just a shadow and a glint o'er an unfamiliar bridge, just o'er a hilled dirt road with no cars ahead and in the sudden abstract silence this road becomes a cross of four, connecting ostensibly like a stunt by Chris Angel and, where do I go now..., what road be the best for tomorrow? I pull my car to the graveled curb, I am thrilled by the gift of Choice, and chilled by my sudden doubt. Looking for angels to make my choice, sun dying fast, which road...which road? Dripping southward from the west, shadowing paths and options, My God, I'm in a real life Rubic's Cube. I see a bridge beyond and beneath a backdrop wine and gold, a sunset bleeding into evening.... emerging, like a virgin, falling- falling to her knees, slowly....... softly, to her knees. I wait for sunsets torch to pass its umbra to twilight, such nuance of subtle change of light, occluding my vision and path... to take me home. And, the darkness drew fast as time, fast as time; forced my mind to drift away from logical concepts, my world of command- and inexplicably...I was a child again, approaching a bridge and grinning at the illusive colors above my eye's dripping from the sky..... like strawberry syrup. Soon darkness came forth from daylights womb, smothering twilights breath in concert with three-quarters Moon - resurrecting light to the nascent eve. Then, on closer look, I see- that these crossroads ne'er split, at all; ne'er at all; that the abstract drip of sunset had merely cast deception on the roads roughshod pavement i'd attempted to negotiate, as all men tend to do, yes, they do! And I saw all this, as a child with limited logic, or so it seemed; which made me stop and wonder how I'd find my way back home, as this child within this man, found his way out from capture - and upon this awakening I knew it was time to become a well versed man of judgment, and morals, a man who 'd command respect. Makes me wonder, still, 'bout many things, as a man of head-strong conviction, as opposed to the boy at the crossroads who saw Life with opaque eye's, but in the knowing, somewhere...deep inside there was always a way back home. And, the boy now understood of which he always had became a man who understood the reason for his journey. I Hope this boy does not grow up too fast, for I have much to learn from him....before he becomes me... becomes. _________________ F j R__________________ © 2015-All rights reserved Frank James Ryan Jr. / FjR
