She dances as the sun shines through her grimy window, It's dazzling light highlighting her petite body, With her hair tied up with a ragged bow, She looks like a waif of the cold, cruel streets of Dublin, She finds love with strangers on fleeting nights, She drinks alcohol to drown her demons, As they try to destroy her soul, Eating through her flesh, Death had entered her life early, Darkness invading her youth unfairly, She plays with imaginary lovers merrily, They all want to win her heart, Now her coldest part, She is shivering with fear, Her sallow skin glaring nude, As she kisses her new dude, With a lost passion, He wants to guide and love her, She laughs and screams in anger, She is not a cat ready to purr, Instead he buys her a brown, fake fur, The sun shines from his sky blue eyes, He holds her hand with kindness, He tells her no lies, That can twist deep into peoples souls, He respects her struggle, He will help her rise as she grows old, Into his princess to merge and enfold, Into city life, To feel the pain and push through to a sunshine day, With butterfly wings she flies her own way, Into every night with his eyes as her guiding light.
