The Wallflower

Altın Yaprak
Compression of bodies pushing forward in the nightclub bar,
She is standing alone, just like another wallflower,
Wilting in the heat and dressed ever so neat,
With frizzy hair that can't be tamed,
She would love to feel glamorous,
Like a Hollywood starlet, ready to achieve fame,
Men whisking her off to villas in the south of Spain,
Trying to capture her fickle heart,
Of a wild carefree girl, they try to tame.
But here she is just a plain Jane feeling quite lame,
Not good looking enough for this competitive scene,
So different from her everyday dream,
She wants to fall in love so bad,
Every saturday evening she ends up just sad,
Mirrors are her only enemy reflecting her limitations,
Instead of showing her inner sensation,
Of a heart as big as any mansion,
Men see past her to find the impact of beauty,
She feels they are throwing her in the rubbish bin.
Is it a sin,
Not to have what it takes,
To win a man's heart?
Lonliness overcomes her as tears fall,
Always waiting for a man to see beyond her plainness,
To look deeply at her beauty of true goodness,
With strong undercurrents of sizzling passion,
That really makes fools out of those girls that live for fashion.
A dashing, handsome man asks her politely for a dance,
She is shocked and thinks he must be locked,
But no he is sober, they dance all night,
With their eyes shining so bright,
A date is made for dinner the following evening,
With drinks in an upmarket bar,
The bet had been made for him to date the wallflower,
He begins to like her because she is different,
Finding at last his kind of truth, in her shy, innocent eyes,
She wears no make up, he enjoys been with no fake.
The bet allows his cynical heart to melt,
She blooms with happiness at his admiration,
Which nourishes and encourages,
They find a wealth of desire and respect,
As they anchor their souls,
Deciding they will have joy on land,
To grow wonderfully old!
