Oh! Miserable Power

It is only a dream Man has no power Remember King Siam And Justinian, the Emperor Their power did not last They are all dead Buried in a coffin-bed We will pass too, very fast Like the wind on the face Of Mother Earth. Our place Here is ephemeral Almost very seasonal. Power, where were you? When the king was dying And when the queen stopped breathing Power, you are a fake too It is obvious that man has no power Man is, from time to time, faking it Frankly in less than an hour Death can claim a mate Power eviscerates Air evaporates And man disappears Without coins, guns and spears. P.S. I dedicated this poem to the Poet and Cardinal John Henry Newman. Copyright © December 2019, Hébert Logerie, All rights reserved. Hébert Logerie is the author of several poetry books.
