As a house pet, the dog and cat
Are different on rules of pet.
As a rule, the dog's anxious that
Human attention it does get.
For a dog, human pet's welcome.
But for a cat, a pet's a thing
That the cat often does run from,
Unless the cat has a wanting,
And knows the human needs a clue,
And so the cat comes purring up,
And lets the human petting do.
The dog just wants the petting, yup.
Dog versus cat mentality,
Whether or not a pet does be.
