In 1842 to mix
Pleasure with making money, yes!
Debts that he hoped the trip would fix.
He found Americans to be
Too acquisitive and so rude,
Spitting tobacco in D.C.
Society was very crude.
But what got Dickens rally hot,
The pirating of Dickens work.
He was losing money - a lot.
The peeved press called him a jerk.
Time came to go and all did cheer
To get the Dickens out of here.
