There was a partridge living in a hole in a big Peepal tree One day in the bird's absence a rabbit took the abode in the tree On his return the bird saw the rabbit and grew raged There arose a noisy fight upon whose was the tree abode After a heated argument long over ownership of the place They at last decided to turn to a mediator to solve their case Many solutions were offered but not agreeable A cat which lived nearby had heard of their quarrel With a decision he began to pray to God loudly Prostrated himself reciting mantras as if sincerely The rabbit and the bird were impressed They went to solicit his advice much convinced Pretending to be deaf the cat asked them to come closer The rabbit and the bird obliged going up very nearer But lo, unexpected fate..the cat struck them down and ate them up Trust in a stranger mostly fails and this way only ends up Always it is best to resolve disputes among known persons Than a stranger who might deceive this way by his bad version
