Anyone can sit in front of you
and hear you as you talk about your day
but there are too few around who want to actually listen
as that seems to require more effort
I prefer to listen myself
to take note of what others are saying
not just as a sign of friendship
but as a sign of mutual respect
It's amazing what you can actually learn
by paying a little more attention
what they have to say may help you understand things
not just about them but yourself also
