A Giver's Heart

We walked once cloaked in shadows' deep embrace, Hands clutching, seeking more than we could bear, Yet came a voice, a tender, ancient grace, That bid us pause and breathe the open air. No more the thief, whose heart was cold and small, But one who gives, with arms outstretched and wide, The selfish pulse that once had ruled us all, Now beats for others, flowing like the tide. We shed the chains of pride, of power's greed, And learned to serve where once we sought to reign, The bloom of love now grows from every deed, In giving life, we find the end of pain. With open hearts, we stand before the King, No longer taking, but a circle whole, We give, we share, we lift on gentle wing, A world reborn, each soul a shining goal. They'll know us by the way we lift the low, By hands that heal, and voices full of peace, In every act, His love will overflow, And from His light, all selfish claims will cease.
