Devine Intervention

In dawn's first breath I wandered, lone and free, A child of innocence, of dreams unmade, With wide, unshadowed eyes that could not see The knowledge waiting in this world, I see again. I played in fields beneath an endless sky, Where sun and rain knew neither wrong nor right, Unburdened by the questions hidden high In stars that whispered softly in the night. Years rolled like rivers, winding through my land, Where once was wonder, now lay paths unknown, I sought for wisdom with an outstretched hand, Yet felt as though I journeyed on alone. For in the heart of wisdom, I was told, Lie cold shadows where the light and darkness meet— A soul that thirsts for truth is never old, And knowledge tastes both bitter sweet and old. The seasons turned, my innocence did fade, Each answer won gave rise to sharper need, In silence, I began a solemn trade— The calm of knowing, for the quest to lead. So now I walk, though still upon this land, A stranger to the fields I knew in play, Yet grateful for the depths that I have found, And for the skies I still must search each day.
