Elvira's Eyes

The eyes gaze down, from the living room wall,
Staring straight into my soul.
The most beautiful eyes I can ever recall,
With a lingering gaze, both shy, and bold.
And the angelic face, truly divine,
Helen of troy, could never compare.
And that face and those eyes, are still mine,
Without them where would I be, Where?
Not yet a woman, but no longer a child,
And her Irish eyes enchant me still.
When I first saw them, my soul went wild,
After forty years, I still can't get my fill.
Elvira, you've always been the love of my life,
Though you never launched a thousand ships.
I adore you so my dear sweet wife,
I long for the smile on your sweet red lips.
To me the face in the picture, is still the same,
Time to her has been very kind.
So many years now, since she took my name,
And that young girl still lingers, in my life and mind.
