Jerome The Gnome

Underneath my lemon tree, There is a door that has no key. The door leads to a little house, That would not accommodate a mouse. Inside there lives a little gnome, That the neighborhood children call Jerome. And right by the door of his tiny home, You'll see his name, written on a stone. Jerome only comes out at night, Cause his tiny eyes hurt from the light. But when night comes you can hear his cries, As he takes rides on the fireflies. He has a seesaw made from a stick, That came off a lollipop I once licked. He loves to swing on the chinaberry, With his tiny girlfriend, Sherry the fairy. Right before the sun appears, He'll head back home for a couple of beers. Then he'll have a bite to eat, At his little table, with the mushroom seat. Then he'll turn in for the day, In his matchbox bed, all stuffed with hay. He'll dream of tomorrow, and his girlfriend Sherry, As they swing contented, on the chinaberry. 1/18/11 Alton Texas
