Virunga

The last of the mountain gorillas are in danger of disappearing. A greedy oil company which cares nothing for these marvelous creatures Is illegally attempting to drill for oil under Lake Edward, which violates international law since Lake Edward is in Virunga National Park. This is the oldest national park in Africa. Gorillas are so much like us. They laugh. They cry. They like to be held when they hear the sounds of the guns and the bombs from the civil war in the Congo. Gorilla parents have been killed by poachers so that their babies may be sold on the black market. They get sick. Adult female Gashangi was just diagnosed with melanoma. This is the first known case in non-human primates, not just in mountain gorillas. Does anyone care? Should we just let them become extinct?
