Captured like wild animals They forced to board ships to the New World Then fought for the British whom promised them land On the island of Nova Scotia But they weren't free to be Then some cast back to Liberia Not knowing what was in store The American Forefathers kept them locked and chained Writing about how all men are equal in the eyes of G-d And then "Separate but Equal" A Jim Crow law that would lasted another hundred years With the deaths of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X As the years progressed An African-American President was elected A man who gave us hope, but it didn't last Now, America is on fire once more With the blood of George Floyd, Eric Gardener and others Inciting on an existing inferno Dear Mr. Trump, no one practicing the first amendment is a thug So shut up that big trap And resign you Chicken Little Amen
