Autumn's Arrival

It's time to start wearing my funky Warhol socks
And putting on my old man's green sweater
The cool air makes the morning bearable
As I mourn the death of summer
I realise I don't miss it at all
The heat was just suffocrating this summer
But the words aren't flowing like before
As someone far away said I am at peace
There's nothing but the sound of leaves falling
And the crack of the bat of a pennant run
While the hockey fans are finally let out
To celebrate a new season in Leaf Nation
Hoping Lord Stanley will come around
In the spring
And I will sit and try to compose poetry
While the winter continues to come
