Listening to Bird Parker
Just before dawn
With a cup of coffee in one hand
And pretending to smoke with the other
I slipped into the late fifties
You, on my arm, as we dance in a little jazz club
Drinking gin and tonics
Until the sun rises behind the Empire State Building
We are blinded by the light
For we crawled thru the night
With a desire to get more kicks
As the nighttime, is the right time
And no one catch us on sunny day
The night's playing....
But it's the twenty-first century
And I need to go to work
No time to listen my dreams
Everything was easier back then
Too bad, I missed it
