An Unheard Song

I sing a song for the unheard: The dumb, the deaf, the speechless bird. I sing a song that’s meant to gird. I sing, I sing, a silent word. Listen, listen, it’s sung with ease. Its sound is quiet, like a billion bees. It freezes hot, one hundred degrees. Songs are sung, not many like these. A lily, a stone, it’s all in one. It's a feather that weighs a ton. It upsets you, while you have fun. It’s an empty barrel, but loaded gun. Fouls live in houses, men in coops. All wars end, so men join troops. The woman stands and the man stoops. It’s alright, actually it's not… oops! I sing a song, it's song of the day, It will be free - you have to pay! It’s a solid, that you must spray. Keep it, keep it. No! Give it away! I sing this song, you sing along. It's right. OK, maybe it’s wrong. With a football, let's play ping pong! Women wear boxers, men wear thongs! Vomit, you know, it’s good for you! Without sunlight, the sky is blue. I have many friends, but a few: Scrappy and Scooby dooby doo! I sing a song of scorching rain. It is pleasing, and brings much pain. My life’s work, I do it in vain. Day after day, I sing it again. Copyright © 2010 Leslie Alexis
