You Are My Riches

Does the vase enhance the beauty of the rose? If so, then I will venture out on assignments, To collect diamonds; making for you a vase, Big enough to hold -one more each day- roses. And while I am at it, I would get many gold bars, And ample amounts of green sapphires To write our names names on the corners of it. And it would be written, “To love, on my heart And life, to the lady I wife, Mystery, my darling, Of your beauty these roses would never begin To compare, and of your worth to me, this crate Accounts to zilch.” And the rose, I would find Eden. With God’s blessing, I would inquire of the Cherub, With the flaming sword, for a moment within. And daily, I would take one rose, and a sample Of the everlasting soils thereof, that they might Never wither. Each day will I journey, and keep At prayer, for the gift of your love. The diamonds are because like our god-given love The vase should be unbreakable. And the gold Is because you, ‘my love’, you are my riches. And it would be the green sapphire, so that, Together they – The roses and vase—would remind Of what I saw in your eyes, when I gave unto you Your very first bouquet. The rose is of Eden, Because the lands are blessed, and the Roses are most beautiful—like you, my love.
