My Childhood

It is not my brother's birthday Nor the day he left for good I have so many wonderful memories I would repeat them if I could. My childhood was not perfect But then no one's is, it's true But is dotted with such excitement I think it might excite you too. For he had such imagination He taught so much to me How to spell Mississippi and how To hang from my knees up a tree. He taught how to play practical jokes That often came back to bite us How to play cowboys and Indians Like a friend I could always trust. If anyone said something that Was not proper he would say "My sister is here you know, " And he said it without delay. But then he joined the Air Force For many nights I cried myself to sleep Though it hurt to lose him again Treasured memories I'll always keep.
