If you live in a quaint country town Or travel to other places I’m sure you have seen at one time Scraps and parts and traces Of old barns and filling stations For some reason they still stand After many years have gone by they sit On worn out nearly vacant land It brings a tear to my eye ‘cause I know They’re a shadow of what they’d been Animals lived in these barns and worked ‘Long side generations of farming men You can imagine what kind of automobile Drove up these old filling stations Something we only see in pictures Certainly there were different creations But even though it’s almost over For these structures could fall any time I have to smile sadly because They managed to live way past their prime!
