Truck Stop Dog

It was during a night in a truck stop Where my husband and I stayed All by ourselves in a corner Road weary and tired and dismayed We just wanted to rest for the night Before heading on down the street Looking for places to visit And friendly new people to meet The roar of trucks was kinda soothing Some sleep we were hoping to get When suddenly we heard a sound It wasn’t a bark it was really a yip It was piercing to my senses Oh lord, please make it stop If I don’t get a few winks of sleep Tomorrow will certainly be a flop But finally his owner must have returned And told him to please shut up He couldn’t have been a very big dog And he possibly was only a pup When you travel, my friend, across country Whether you stay in a truck stop or RV park You never know what will wake you Before you are able to depart!
