Up In The Mountains

Up in the mountains There is a town Deserted and barren From minerals unfound. The people came By wagon train Crawling through the mountains Of the rough terrain. They built some stores A church and school Hoping to prove They were no fool. The dreams of silver The tales of riches Still hovered the town Amongst their skills and niches. And up in the hills As they dug and scraped Hoping to find Lost silver to stake. But you know, it never Came to pass ‘Cause down from the hills In the dry prairie grass Their dreams went bad So they had to go Weary travelers again So hard, you know! And now it's a shrine We can pass through and see For the modern day traveler Like you and me.
