Our Last Good Wake

What lamentations did we bless?
The lion and the leopardess
for-once-a child is born to be
the ruler over you and me.
Our kingdoms crumble down to dust.
Our bodies are little-more-than corroding signposts.
To them, a hindrance, death must take
that we may have our last good wake.
