A larger-than-life, bright red sled,
trimmed with gold and the word 'Santa Claus'
in big letters over the seat,
sits, cheery to a fault,
on a front porch I drive by each day
where for a month before Halloween
a life-sized effigy
of a crazed man stood,
shirt soaked red,
chainsaw in his outstretched hand
