The Bird-Spirit (Sonnet)

Altın Yaprak
The whispers of the wind in winding trees
With shafts of sun at twilight, crystalline;
The ocean with the force of life is fierce:
The surface of the Earth's almost divine!
That spherical western fire of the day,
That mesmerising magic in the sky: —
The silent death of yet another day,
Slowly swallowing the swift life of time…
And yet, we go through night of dreams again,
And hope with ceaseless faith in morning-light,
That may revive us: love in heart regain,
In finding our own morning-spirit bright:
Those subtle nuances of love divine
Are flying free like birds upon the sky!
