A Common Girl On The Road

Altın Yaprak
With no hand to hold
The boulevard stark and cold
Offering money, ambition, glamour
But no empathy, no compassion
Down the tarmac road
Her leather pumps falter
Lascivious stares pierce her
Catcalls chase her with dissonance
She is an ordinary girl
With a will to fight and survive
But a simple task is made hard
By the prying vision of misogyny
Amid the horns yelling
The whizz of the snobbish cars
She can still hear the song of dreams
She can still hear the voice within.
