'Salvoni'

A cute little girl, not a doll, a beautiful angel I brought from a distant city, a gift for my daughter 'Salvoni', she called it and took care of it dedicatedly Who soon became a bit of the heart of my heart's bit Decked to beauty with braided skirt and choli It marvelled above the marvelous fairy princess Necklace of Gunja seeds and Maala of Thumba flowers Made her a celestial being hailing from wilderness She winked with her gleaming blue sapphire eyes Encompassed by thickly lashed darkened eye lids A saffron Mehandi added to her smiling face The brightness of a lotus bloom in rising spring sun Distanced by the local population a Dracula Castle Stood alienated among the neighbour's houses around The vampire who was thirsty for young female blood Was a terror, and to women and children a nightmare Nobody has seen the Count face to face hitherto But a vague dark tall figure passing in an old Ambassador car A black Jackal with fiery eyes and bloody canines Was spotted roaming inside the castle in black nights Passers by were keenly watched by hidden eyes To spot any possible throat puncture of blood outlet Absenting to lunch with me they strolled into the castle And engaged in playing with their cousins inside, one day A black flash of apprehension passed through my brain Trespassing my words sunk me into deep desperation It was not for the authority but the anxiety of a father, For creating awareness of the danger of recklessness That I summoned them, snatched and threw away Salvoni And punished them hard in a suddenly waved fit of anger A peep into their room, after a few minutes, sunk my heart To see my little daughter sobbing and wiping Salvoni's tears Asking to calm down while straining to stop her own tears Regretfully I hoped pain would restrain their temptation Instead, the hard clog it created in their bleeding heart Remains undissolved still in spite of the mighty flow of love Hard decisions on good intentions may conflict Until the subtle power of time unveils the truth
