The Flood

Rain, rain, rain
Raining all the day
I don't have school today
Rain, rain, rain
Fills the yard and fills the road
Fills my heart I want to play
We made paper boats and played
We made boats from banana flower
And from coconut flower sheaths too
With ants inside we let them flow
The boats capsized and the ants drowned
What a fun? We applauded!
Rain rain rain
It rained throughout the night
Dams and rivers overflowed
People with their life fled far
Flood woke me up at midnight
Pulling me by both my feet
I was stranded in a plight
Flowed and flowed and flowed I down
Caught hold of a plank and saved
Cold and hunger struck me hard
Longer I could not withstand
Woke up in a strange clinic ward
Returned when the water receded
Looked around for my grand dad
Neighbours came and welcomed me
Lead me to a burial ground
Stopped at a new tomb and said
Here is he, could not be saved
Jumped in as to save you lad
Hanging heart and tearful eyes
Wanted save his mortal belongings
Alas! Our hut is washed away
With all it's contents, but his love
God is sometimes kidding hard
Taking away all what we have
