Each Singing, Sighing Leafy Tree

Each singing, sighing leafy tree
Returns to green, in downy spring;
Forgets the forlorn, skeletal frame
That winter force, with its extreme.
To welcome bird, with open branch,
As pointy fingers search the sky;
The dead asleep, between its roots-
And no one ever heard their cry.
The past is past, and weeping's short,
For life exacts a gravid toll,
But pays the dividend in spring,
To each green leafing, sun-drenched soul.
