In inflation's burst Came birth into being; Quark soup into atoms, The spinning into suns Expanded levels of consciousness. Then the gradual collapse The withdrawal again, from worldly form Deceleration of matters pull And before the final degradation The spirit released from bondage, Attracted to the infinite gravity As opposites are: Featherweight of a soul To the galaxy's center- Incomprehensible density of black hole Hidden by dust clouds and debris, Where the work of creation Goes on in darkness, and in secret: The concluding no less a marvel Than the first explosion Love returning to its own.
