The Elephant's Odd Love Affair

It happened in the month of May
that the elephant fell in love
with a mosquito. And luckily enough
for him, the buzzing tiny insect
reciprocated the huge trunked creature's
passionate infatuation.
In the light of their immense affection,
the scarce and uncommon couple decided
to unite in holy matrimony.
And without much beating of the drums
and the sounding of the clarions,
they both looked eagerly forward
to the day when they would
be able to consummate their marriage.
Unfortunately though,
the groom and the bride encountered
unexpected difficulties. What happened was
that the mosquito's family objected to
the marriage, because, as they said,
the elephant was not established at all
and he did not have enough money to support
a wife and start a family.
On the other hand, for their part,
the elephant clan did not approve the marriage
because they discovered that the mosquito
and her family practiced a different religion.
