I remember when I was a young boy I sat on Santa's lap for a Christmas story, Then he said if I was good I'd get a toy But, then I thought was all this just a ploy. Then every Christmas I never saw him at the tree, So, Santa I then didn't want to believe or be. I was once read a story by a soldier man He served and fought in Afghanistan, He told me if I wanted to be a soldier I too can So, from him I just ran. I didn't want to carry a gun and kill That is not my type of happiness or thrill. I once was read a story by a musician, Music he told me was his life's only mission, It was indeed his greatest ambition Then because of drugs he ended up at a mortician. I couldn't or wouldn't want that type of lifestyle, Where you live behind a fake smile. I once was read a story by a drag Queen Not once was I treated mean, The story that was told was both wholesome and clean And happy she did seen. It was against racism and bigotry the story that was told, And happily I'll remember that story until I am old. I once heard a story read to me by a preacher It was about the worlds greatest teacher, And how we all were created as a freewill creature And his story of forgiveness and love was the greatest feature. So, now every Sunday I go to church, As I have found the truest answer to my search. Randy L. McClave
