Digging A Hole

I dug a hole in the ground Then I looked to see what was found, Besides digging up rocks and dirt I was curious what else was hidden in the earth. With my shovel I dug more and more As if I were digging to the earth's core, I found forgotten metals and wood fragment there Also buttons, coins and jewelry for someone's hair. I thought I was digging up maybe a mystery Digging up a forgotten history, And then the more that I sweated and dug The more I looked and perspired and did shrug. I then found pieces of glass And other objects that were once high class, And fabric fragments from a person's clothing In my shovel in the dirt it was exposing. Then as I shoveled up some more rocks and stones Then I shoveled up some forgotten bones, And then finally with my last huff and puff I decided then that I had dug deep enough. Then and there I finally finished all the digging Then I got out of the hole to hook up the rigging I hooked up the casket without the soul Then I lowered the casket in its 8 foot deep forever hole.
