God Slept

While we are being tested Many say that God has rested, When slavery and racism was in the land They said God slept on his hand. When there was murder, rape and genocide When the native Americans screamed and cried, They said God never heard any of them Because, he was in bed asleep by 10. Then came another war They said that they could hear God snore, And as the Lord slept They said God never worried or wept. Then when came the Holocaust They said the Lord just turned and tossed, And they said that he never did weep As he was soundly asleep. When racism and violence exists And at immigrants and the poor and needy they shake their fists, When sin in our country reaps They say that God still sleeps. Murder, adultery, stealing and greed is now everywhere They say God is sleeping in the heavens up there, Now they say whenever the word gay is ever spoke Only then, is the Lord God awoke. Randy L.
