I Can Hear

I started losing my hearing a long time ago Why I was losing it, I did not know, But, it became harder and harder for me to hear And many words never came in clear. I tried to listen to the words that my woman would say But, from my hearing the words did strangely stray, And many times I would say, "what", "huh", or will you repeat Then from our conversation she would angrily retreat. I couldn't hear her when she would whine or complain And her patience with me began to slowly drain, I truly tried my best to understand her every word But, sometimes what she spoke, I just never heard. She then one day said goodbye to me with a frisson She left me for someone who would just listen, Those words I heard and I felt them as they were spoke From a bad dream, I then thought I had awoke. Now I am a single man again once more Now there is no gossiping or arguing from her rapport, I hear no more lies, or judging from her with a grin Now happily I can say, I can hear well once again.
