I Sleep Alone

She was a grouch So, alone I slept on the couch, While she slept alone in my bed And a goodnight to me was never said. I thought that she was my girl I thought that she was my pearl, She told me that I was her man That's where our relationship had began. But, then I found out the truth When I became a sleuth, She didn't want us known as a couple So, my mind was supple. She just wanted to always use me Emotionally and also financially, Then she told me to keep our little mystery So, as one or as a couple no one would see. When anyone ever treated her bad I in turn made her happy and glad, And while her children were in my house She wouldn't be my verbally spouse. Her daughter always slept in the guest room And her son slept on futon I did assume, Their mother always wished them both a goodnight But, unto me she did no right. I always took her son to school She treated me like a pack mule, With her wishes or commands I was always told And she was always treating me cold. When it was just her and I I was so very happy that I wanted to cry, Now sometimes her I wished I never did meet As I sleep alone sadden on the love seat. Randy L. McClave
