Last Night I Cried

Last night I died Last night I cried, As I stood in front of God Waiting for his final nod. There I was being judged In the book of life would my name be smudged, Would my eternity be in heaven or Hell Only God would tell. Was I forgiven or was I not Was redemption what I had truly sought, I had listened to all of the preachings But, I never truly followed any of the teachings. I was bigoted and I still hated Then from those actions I was fated, I judged others from what I did see Now the judging, will be done on me. I saw the needy and the poor Their needs and pleads I did ignore, Then when I saw the undocumented way over there I gave them no hope, not even a prayer. I now reflect back with guilt and shame I am of course the only one to blame, Indeed I said that I was following Christ But, many times I heard the cock crow thrice. I'll be shown my sins and how I hated and did curse And how I ignored or misused, a Bible verse, My soul will be the one needing to mend And it will be shown, from my beginning to end. I know now that it was a sin When I judged someone because of the color of their skin, And when they spoke in a different dialect I should not had gotten angry, and upset. I now stand in front of the Lord There I see God's avenging sword, I am scared, but not because I had died But, because I cheated, and I hated, and I lied. Randy L. McClave
