Longinus

I am alert and very wary As I am a soldier, a mercenary, I have always wandered both near and far And I have every known war scar. I have fought in hundreds of wars Here and there and on countless different shores, I have been shot and I have been stabbed I have been clubbed and beaten when grabbed. On the ground in my blood many times I did lie But, I got up because I cannot die, Unto all I will let out a sad chortle "I am a cursed immortal". I am enduring as a result of a past action Which I did for my souls true satisfaction, I am now cursed to wonder the earth all alone And I must wait for the day for my actions to atone. As a soldier I will always remain as I wander Another life or occupation I can never ponder, For the action that I once did give God is not ready to yet forgive. I was there at Golgotha/ Calvary I was there looking upon his disciple and Mary Then when he spoke to God, "why have you abandoned me" I felt no pity or pain or sadness for him in any degree. My name it is Longinus I am that soldier who drove the lance in the side of Jesus, While he was on the Cross being crucified I happily proved to all that he had died. Now as a soldier I must walk and wander the earth aimlessly As I must also serve and fight blamelessly, And as a soldier I will wander until I hear the last drumming; Until the Lords second coming.
