Pity Any Country

Pity any county whose people are sheep Pretty soon them the wolves will reap, They ignore the world as they hear a hymn Their elected shepherds have misled all of them. Pity any country whose leaders are liars They have sold their souls to the highest buyers, And when they cause their people to become violent Their Thinkers, are now all silent. Pity any country when they do not raise their voice Especially when they have freedom and the choice, Except when they praise a supporter of the Klan And then they acclaim a coward, as a very brave man. Pity any country that wants to be known Not to know any other languages, but it's very own, And other cultures on its soil they fight for it not to exist The rights and freedom of others does not resist. Pity any country whose breadth is money Especially when they see turmoil as always sunny, Unto greed they all are happily led And then sleeps the sleep, of the very well fed. Pity the country and pity their people When they see their government as a Church's steeple, They allow all their rights to fade away and erode And their humanity to others will then quickly corrode. Pity any country when they demand their neighbors a wall Especially when they had demanded another country's blockade to fall, They cry that they need it because of crime and loss of wealth I will say take a mirror, and take a closer look at yourself. Pity any country who allows their freedoms to be washed away Not destroyed or tossed or forgotten, but left to decay, My country, I was once so very proud of thee The sweet land and home of liberty.
